Design Thinking Bootcamp

In today’s world, there is a hunger for innovation everywhere. Developing new and innovative products and services is the “golden mantra” of every organization. Thus, all organizations aim to attract creative and collaborative interns and employees. Design thinking is an approach to problem-solving that emphasizes understanding people as a vital component to successful innovation. This Design Thinking Bootcamp will introduce participants to methods that help you understand people’s needs and develop innovative solutions through collaboration. The workshop is extremely hands-on, inviting participants in actively learning and transforming their behaviors.
During this workshop, you will get a first introduction to:
- Developing empathy and a deep contextual understanding of an issue through research
- Creative problem solving techniques to generate and explore ideas
- Design thinking skills that will allow you to come up with new ideas and turn problems into opportunity.
- How to apply these skills in the context of a team
- Communication skills
As there is no better way to learn than by working on real-world problems, for this Bootcamp, we will be partnering with I Am Your Protector, a non-profit organization created in 2015 and which has now chapters in the United Stated, Europe, Balkans, and Pakistan.
Anne-Laure Fayard is Associate Professor of Management in the Department of Technology Management and Innovation at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. She is also Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Management and Organizations at NYU Stern Business School. Prior to moving to New York, she was a faculty member at INSEAD, both in Singapore and in Fontainebleau. She has also been visiting scholar with the Center of Sociology of Innovation at Ecole des Mines in Paris and with Design London and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at Imperial College in London.
Her research interests involve communication, collaboration, design, culture and space.
Her work has been published in several leading journals such as Harvard Business Review, Organization Science and Administrative Science Quartlerly, and quoted in newspapers such as The New York Times. Her book (with Anca Metiu), The Power of Writing in Organizations, was published by Routledge in August 2012. She teaches courses in organizational behavior, leadership, design thinking and qualitative research methods in graduate and executive programs. She is also the faculty advisor for the NYU studio of Design for America, a student organization who aims to tackle social issues through human-centered design.
She holds a BA in Philosophy and an M.Phil. in History and Philosophy of Science from Paris – La Sorbonne, an M.Phil. in Cognitive Science from Ecole Polytechnique (Paris) and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the Ecole des Hautes-Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris).
